Gelfand Looking Good, Anand Leads in Round 7

The players started off by taking it easy and settling in to what is known to be the strongest chess event of the decade. You can still vote for your favorite chess player, at the moment it is hard to tell who is the better player as all seem to be playing safe in the first round. The second round the pace picks up and in the third round Kramnik and Anand lead the event! It has been nothing more than brilliant. What more could one ask from such great chess players!
In round four Aronian had the only win and what a good well deserved win it was, Kramnik along with Anand are in the lead with Aronian and Morozevitch following close behind. It is still early days but some mighty good chess has been played. Grischuk held Kramnik to a draw with a fight to the bitter end.
A great win for Anand in a terrific round five with very skillful play placing him in the lead. Kramnik's game ended up in a draw. Both Morozevitch and Aronian were a bit too ambitious and lost their game making blunders that could've been avoided. Gelfand played very strong and deserved to win along with Grischuk, beautiful chess.
Grischuk made some very interesting moves to give him some positional advantage but Svidler played very defensively to hold off what seemed to be a mighty attack. Morosevitch held off Gelfand as best he could to a mighty endgame, they both made up for the quick draws of the other players. Gelfand won with outstanding play, placing him in first place with Anand!

Sorry but Bobby Fischer has resigned from chess and will play no more!! I can understand your frustration but the players are just settling in right now.
Just watched the games LIVE from Mexico city and what a good win for Kramnik he made Morozevich look like a beginner! What a fantastic game it was, Kramnik finished with ease!
Also am easy win for Anand, at the end Aronian let his Queen wonder too far from his king and Anand finished with ease! Both very good games.
What I would like to know is, How did Morozovich get invited to play in Mexico City? His last game with Kramnik has me thinkin!!It was just awful!
Anand, Morozevich and Svidler qualified by virtue of their places in the 2005 FIDE World Championship in San Luis. Kramnik took the place that was originally reserved for Veselin Topalov (the winner of the San Luis world championship) after the latter lost his title at the 2006 Unification World Championship in Elista. The other four players qualified in the 2007 Candidates Matches in Elista. The winner of the Mexico World Championship receives the undisputed title of World Chess Champion.
Kramnik is showing us what being number one means, it looks like he is about to win the game with Ananad very good end game and sure to win.
Grischuck is throwing everything at Levonian but Aronian is a pawn up and holding the onslaught of Grischucks attack. Very good attack and i myst say good defending by Aronian, haed to tell who is winning.
I like this site, it is well presented no advertising and easy to navigate. Well done, I keep coming back because it has more than I need!
